Meet the Classic
Blackwater No. 5 Gin

Distilled from the purest spirit, the finest botanicals and soft local water, this is a classic gin balancing the confidence of juniper with coriander, warm cinnamon and zesty lemon. Blackwater No. 5 Gin is crisp and elegant, great as a G&T, and excellent in a cocktail.

We designed Blackwater No. 5 Gin from top to bottom using only the botanicals imported into Ireland by Whites of Waterford during the 19th century. Of the twelve botanicals used, ten are classic while two are rather special and probably unique to Blackwater No.5 Gin. All are locally sourced where possible, or from wherever in the world the finest grade happens to be.

Perfect Pour

Lots of ice, tonic water and a generous wedge of fresh lime.

Blackwater No.5 Gin Basil Smash

The Blackwater No.5 Gin Basil Smash is a modern classic cocktail that’s refreshing, delicious, and so easy to make at home! This simple gin cocktail uses just four ingredients: Blackwater No.5 Gin, fresh basil, sugar syrup and lemon juice, and promises to be a smash hit.

  • 50ml Blackwater No.5 Gin
  • 22.5ml Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 22.5ml sugar syrup (boil one part water to one part sugar, then cool)
  • 7 fresh Basil leaves

Roughly tear 5-6 fresh basil leaves into your cocktail shaker. Add sugar syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice and Blackwater No.5 Gin. Add ice and like the man said, ‘shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it (uh oh), shake it like a Polaroid picture’. The more you shake, the greener it gets, so don’t be shy. To serve, add ice to your favourite glass, double strain the cocktail into the glass, garnishing with a fresh basil leaf on top.

Blackwater Wexford Strawberry Gin

Blackwater Wexford Strawberry Gin

What’s more summery than strawberries? Nothing really, except perhaps sunblock. We tried distilling that but it tasted disgusting, so we went back to strawberries. In all, thirteen botanicals are distilled to produce this gin, the largest of these being strawberry, as you might expect.

The berries are grown for us just outside Enniscorthy in Co. Wexford and because strawberries are a delicate fruit, we distil them separately. Then blend them back into the gin. That’s it. We don’t add any sugar or sweetener of any sort. Just the fruit, the whole fruit and nothing but the fruit.

Perfect Pour

Lots of ice, tonic water, fresh strawberries, 3-4 leaves fresh basil and a crack of black pepper. Just add friends.
