THE BLACKWATER DISTILLERY EXPERIENCE

Located within a refurbished 1950’s hardware store in Ballyduff village, West Waterford on the banks of the Blackwater River (15 mins from Lismore Castle, 35 minutes from Midleton), our new distillery is renowned nationally and internationally for its innovative approach to creating a diverse range of award-winning contemporary Irish spirits.

Our guided tour enables guests to explore our working distillery and discover the ancient art of Irish whisky and gin production. Witness the skill and passion that goes into each of our spirits. Experience first-hand the sound, smell and feel of a fully operational distillery and enjoy a tutored tasting at our gallery bar.

Come and join us at our working distillery, for a behind the scenes tour and tasting! Join a Blackwater Distillery guide to learn how centuries-old techniques are used to craft our world class collection of gin, whisky and seasonal spirits. Hear the success story of the maverick personalities behind our distillery including our founder, Peter Mulryan, and Head Distiller, John Wilcox. Enjoy a sample of our distillery’s precious new-make whisky. Afterwards, head to the gallery bar to enjoy tasting our award winning spirts, with a gin and tonic to take home (made from real botanicals!) while overlooking the distillery floor.

We love cocktails! Here is your chance to get up close and personal with a Blackwater Distillery mixologist and learn how to create your very own cocktails!

Following a short tour, you will learn all the secrets of a highly skilled mixologist,  hear the century old stories behind some classic cocktails and discover which Blackwater spirits complement these cocktails best. Then it’s over to you as you mix, roll, shake and create your very own cocktail! This fun-filled and informative experience includes 2 cocktails, plus a goodie bag including a Blackwater miniature gin bottle and personalised cocktail shaker to bring home & impress your friends!

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • Smoking is not permitted within 300 yards of the distillery. This includes all vapes and e-cigarettes.
  • Our premises are fully wheelchair accessible. If you have any specific access requirements, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to help you.
  • Blackwater Distillery is ideally suited to adults. Children under the age of 8 years old cannot be accommodated.
  • Children aged 9-17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Under no circumstances can children partake in alcohol tasting sessions or master classes.
  • AGE ID may be required and must be presented upon request.
  • The distillery is an industrial setting. Guests must be dressed appropriately.
  • This is a working distillery. Noise and heat (especially in summer) are to be expected.
